Day 2 Spirit of Douglas Journey Sector 2

Long hours, perfect light, and footage worth the effort
Camera team’s delight
This was truly a day for the camera team. Our incredible Executive Producer and Director, Gregory Le Moigne and Director of Photography, Anouck Thedenat were working super hard today. They have the very important job of shooting footage so we can share the Spirit of Douglas’ journey with the whole world.
To bring the joy and share the adventure with those not aboard is no easy task, but we’re lucky to have Gregory driving this. His Season 1 web series is on our website and it’s truly compelling viewing.
Today Gregory went to new heights to get the shots of an air-to-air flight from a supporting aircraft above Salerno. Gregory was strapped in to capture Spirit of Douglas soaring above the Italian town with views over Pompeii, Vesuvius and the scenic Amalfi coast.
After a return to terra firma, refuelling and a wonderful Italian lunch of pasta, the team were recharged and ready to set off again.
In the soft and bewitching late afternoon light, we took off from Salerno bound for Athens, Greece. Flying eastbound for several hours the setting sun made for more beautiful shots. Finally coming into Athens in the inky darkness capped off a big day with plenty of footage in the can. A growing reception of eager airport contractors welcomed us on arrival. They were all so excited to see Spirit of Douglas.
What a day to film. CUT.
