Over water, weather and jungle

Spirit of Douglas was waiting for us patiently on the airport apron. A smooth flight out from Kolkata and over Bengal with views of the snaking Ganges delta, the world’s largest river delta. As we flew, we couldn’t help thinking that below us were Bengal tigers, pythons, elephants, crocodiles and lots more amazing wildlife. Leaving the delta behind, we flew over the Bay of Bengal and eventually crossed over Myanmar and its beautiful coastline. Then on to Thailand, where we dodged impressively large clusters of cumulonimbus clouds. We felt very small indeed!After a safe landing in Bangkok and the team set to work with maintenance checks and refuelling for another long flight tomorrow. But our efforts were quickly halted by an evening thunderstorm. So we headed to the hotel to make ready for tomorrow. It definitely feels like we’re making headway.
